of Sino-Foreign Cooperation on Intellectual Property
THEME: From Conflict to Cooperation

The issue of intellectual property in the
trade disputes between China and other countries
has emerged sharply since China’s entering
into WTO, and more and more Chinese enterprises
have been entangled into the dissension of
international property rights with continuous
lawsuit cases. These cases, usually, aim at
the leading enterprises of certain industrial
circles with definite intention and careful
plan. Whether the settlement would be made
by adjudication or conciliation, the result
would always cause adverse impacts on the charged
enterprises in their sales volume and market
foreground and make a big shock in the whole
industry. On the other hand, the foreign enterprises
would also feel bothered and have no option
but to institute legal proceedings when they
have IP disputes with Chinese enterprises.
Therefore, we should reconsider and think it
over again while we face these problems. What
the approach is to exert the real function
and the most efficiencies of intellectual property
rights in the development of enterprises on
the base of complying to the playing regulations
of intellectual property systems and respect
to each other’s property rights in order to
develop long-term technological cooperation,
adapt into the pattern of the exchange of intellectual
property rights and cross permission and prevent
the intellectual property from the risk of
disputes. It is possible to build a more bright
future as far as we can，find a new mode for
international competition and amalgamation
for win-win cooperation on the way of their
development.
The intellectual property problem between
the Chinese and foreign enterprises needs more
mutual exchange of views and understandings.
The idea of “from conflicts to cooperation”
has become the common wish of both parties
day by day. For this purpose, the Chinese Group
of the International Association for the Protection
of Intellectual Property and China Intellectual
Property Society have decided to co-hold the
International Forum of Sino-foreign Intellectual
Property with the theme of “From Conflicts
to Cooperation” on January 12 to January 13,
2006 in Beijing, China, in order to increase
exchanges and dialogues between enterprises
of China and foreign countries.
This current forum mainly adopts the form
of round-table discussion.
Some main responsible officials of Chinese
government, experts and scholars, lawyers long-time
engaged in the field of intellectual property,
as well as leaders of famous enterprises of
China and foreign countries will be invited
in the occasion and they will make interesting
speeches on commonly concerned issues and exchange
views with the delegates and answer the questions.
We sincerely invite those who are interested
in Sino-foreign intellectual property to actively
participate in this forum, express one’s own
view freely in order to seek the newest pattern
and best way of cooperation in the field of
intellectual property.
